#How to Train
Step 1
Hang the dog doorbell on the doorknob, and let your dog get used to the doorbell by smelling and touching it. Point to the doorbell and say touch, and when your dog rings the doorbell, praise and give him/her a treat. Repeat the above behavior a few times to let your dog take into account that this is for communication instead of playing.
Step 2
The second step is to open the door when your dog rings the training bell. Take your dog outside, praise and give him/her a treat again, repeat a few times and your dog will associate the bell with “outside”.
Step 3
Leash your dog, and after step 2 guide your dog to the area where you want him/her to potty and once it is finished, reward with his/her favorite treat and lots of praise. After a few repetitions, your dog will develop the habit of ringing the doorbell before potty.

1. On occasion your dog may be ringing the bell just to play or ask for a treat, you want to be patient and tell it to leave the doorbell. But don’t yell at your dog for it, or your dog will associate fear with ringing the doorbell.
2. Train your dog before meals so they are going to crave treats more.
